Chairman’s Message

Marvin Stover, NFRC Chairman

After months of hard and dedicated work, the NFRC Board recently approved a new set of core beliefs and a direction for the future. This process began in the summer of 2004 with a strategic planning initiative that included a cross-cutting team representing a broad cross-section of NFRC stakeholders. This group met twice and utilized a Web-based tool to discern NFRC’s strengths and weaknesses and to focus on the future of NFRC.

Based on this input, the NFRC Board of Directors reviewed, dissected, wrestled with, and formally approved a draft vision, mission statement, set of core values and goals. The following is the product of this work:

VISION

NFRC is the recognized global leader in delivering energy and related performance ratings and certification for fenestration products and systems.

GENERAL GOALS

1. Strengthen the organization’s ability to achieve its mission

2. Continually evaluate and improve the existing NFRC programs

3. Build new programs as needed

4. Maintain a long-term global focus

This is the result of a considerable amount of effort by NFRC’s volunteer members – and their work is not yet done! Still to be completed are the necessary steps of developing and approving the objectives that will help NFRC meets its goals. NFRC staff will then be assigned to a specific set of projects that will assure that objectives are met.

It is hoped that a complete strategic plan can be presented to the membership at the NFRC meeting in Hawaii. We encourage your review of this initiative, and appreciate your input and support.
