As NFRC Adopts New Technology

Alas. This is the last edition of NFRC’s e-newsletter, NFRC Update. It’s been a pleasure bringing you fenestration-related news, and we’ve found a way to do it even better.

Update has served all of us well for many years. The rapid evolution of technology, however, has changed the way the world communicates and NFRC is adapting. The Internet has given rise to many new forms of communication, such as blogs and podcasts, which enable niche groups to share their ideas. It’s also created many social networking Web sites. Both allow for literally instant communication.

Many readers are likely familiar with the live reporting system that NFRC uses during its membership meetings. For those of you who are not, the system is essentially a blog that is updated throughout the day, delivering news as it happens. NFRC calls this live reporting system NFRC News Now.

NFRC News Now is not just for meetings anymore. We’re implementing it full-time to replace Update so we can provide you with the most up-to-date information possible.

In evaluating the recent effectiveness of Update, NFRC’s communications team has determined it can provide much more valuable information through the Internet than it can through quarterly e-newsletters. From here forward, please visit NFRC News Now for all the latest fenestration news – as it happens.

NFRC’s communications team is confident you will find the information timely and relevant.

Where it All Began
NFRC originally implemented its live reporting system during its Fall Membership Meeting held in Jacksonville, Fla., in November 2008. The idea behind its implementation was to help people who couldn’t attend the membership meeting to keep up with the proceedings and to serve as a reference for those who could not attend certain sessions.

The program proved so successful that NFRC has used the system during every membership meeting since. Its popularity has drawn a steady increase in visitors, so NFRC has decided to offer access to NFRC News Now all the time.
