Board and Membership Categories Clarified and Aligned

As you may know, a Board meeting earlier this year resulted in many important changes for NFRC’s Board and Membership.  After the 2005 Santa Fe Board Meeting, it became clear that there was some confusion regarding the membership categories and their relationship to election categories.  As a result, the Board requested its Legal and Membership committees to provide some options to further reduce any uncertainty.  Several of their recommendations were approved by the Board. Draft Component Modeling Program PCP Language Posted

Following the 2006 March meeting in San Diego, NFRC staff, under the guidance of the Component Modeling Subcommittee Chair Mike Manteghi and Vice Chair Gary Curtis, converted the nonresidential certification program flowchart (draft IV) into draft Product Certification Program (PCP) language.  A PCP working group then reviewed the draft document to make sure it was as complete as possible and that it was consistent with the flow chart. More

New Report Confirms NFRC Survey Results

A recent study published in the January issue of Window & Door Magazine revealed that energy efficiency is the number one priority for consumers buying replacement windows.  The results confirm a similar NFRC survey completed in 2004 that found consumers nationwide look for energy performance and durability first when purchasing new windows, followed by price, appearance and warranty. More      

NFRC Prepares to Welcome Window Film Certification

It’s been a long time coming, but window film is at last approaching its seat at the NFRC certification table.  Following the Board’s approval of both the procedures for rating and certifying window film, and a new label last spring, NFRC’s staff has been diligently working to bring all of the pieces together so that window film manufacturers can take advantage of the program.  Those pieces include modifying NFRC’s software and its Certified Product Directory.  “We expect to have all the back-end work completed by mid 2006,” said Jessica Ferris, NFRC’s certification manager.  Once that is complete, manufacturers can begin the process of certification and labeling. More
