Time to Cast Your Vote!

The 2006 NFRC Board of Directors election takes place this month with five open board seats on the ballot.  Voting members can vote online at www.directvote.net/nfrc2006/  beginning October 6, 2006.

This year’s open seats are spread across the Board’s three categories, with two seats available in both the General Interest Category and the Fenestration Industry Category, and one seat available in the Lab Category.  Each of the nominees is employed by or has a significant affiliation with an NFRC member that is in good standing.

“This is the time for all NFRC members to voice their opinion.  It is imperative that all members cast their ballots in the board election so we can have a quorum and continue moving forward with our work,” says Jim Benney, executive director of NFRC.

The nominees for each seat are as follows:

General Interest Category (3-year term):
(Two slots open)
Kerry Haglund, Center for Sustainable Building Research,
University of Minnesota
Jeffrey Harris, Alliance to Save Energy

Fenestration Industry Category – Commercial (3-year term):
(One slot open)
Mike Manteghi, TRACO

Fenestration Industry Category - unspecified (1-year term):

Thomas D. Culp, Birch Point Consulting, LLC
Joseph A. Hayden, Pella Corporation
Brad Schultz, Associated Laboratories, Inc.

Lab Category (3-year term):
(One slot open)
Jeff Baker, WESTLab, Inc.
Michael J. Thoman, Architectural Testing, Inc., Pa.

Voting Members will receive an email with an original Election ID and pass code.  They will also receive a letter via mail with the same information enclosed.   Voting members can also have their Election ID and pass code emailed to them by going to www.directvote.net/nfrc2006/sendID.aspx.

Nominee bios are available on the NFRC web site as well as within the online voting application. The voting will close November 6, 2006, and winners will be announced in a report to the Board and NFRC members.   NFRC will also issue a press release announcing the winners.

NFRC transitioned to electronic balloting in recent years in order to facilitate voting for our membership.  The voting process is administered by an independent, third-party contractor.

The NFRC Board of Directors is comprised of twelve members, and is charged with assuring that ratings published by NFRC actually assist our stakeholders – building code officials, state energy offices, architects, specifiers, builders, and the consuming public – in selecting, specifying, or evaluating fenestration systems in terms of energy efficiency.  The Board of Directors is weighted towards the general interest to assure that NFRC continues to work towards the public interest and the goal of providing fair and accurate energy performance ratings for fenestration products.
