NFRC in the News

On August 26, The Daily Press in Newport News, Va., published an article online addressing tax credits for home improvement products, including windows, doors, and skylights. The article points out that consumers can find a window’s energy ratings on the NFRC label.

NFRC Update Editor’s Note: NFRC advises those seeking to take advantage of the credits to contact a tax consultant or the IRS because there may be certain stipulations depending on one’s individual circumstances.

On August 3, the U.S. Glass News Network (USGNN) published an article online explaining that the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association (IGMA) is researching new standards to determine glass permeability. The article notes that NFRC is providing support to this research project, known as "Performance Sustainability of Insulating Glass Units: Development of a Test Protocol for Argon Permeability through Insulating Glass Units."

This effort is intended to be a multi-phase project, which has reached Phase 2: "The Evaluation of the Gas Permeability of Edge Seal Assemblies." Phase 2 will result in a new test cell design for the industry.
