New Features on NFRC’s Web site

In recent months, NFRC has added new features to its Web site to provide valuable information and reinforce the importance of NFRC’s certification and labeling system.

NFRC News Now, the organization’s live meeting blog, which is being expanded to offer additional coverage between meetings, is one of the latest additions to www.nfrc.org.

NFRC also has created an Allied Organizations web page. This is where we post the logos and Web site addresses of organizations that share a similar long-term mission with NFRC. These organizations promote energy efficiency, code enforcement, and sustainability. So far, NFRC has posted nine allied organizations, and we are always looking for more.

Additional Resources
NFRC’s Allied Organizations Program strives to develop a meaningful connection with participating organizations by getting more involved in their programs and encouraging them to participate in NFRC activities and programs. Sharing our similar missions should create more awareness of how all these organizations can work together with NFRC to promote energy efficiency and promote sustainable building.

If you would like to participate, please contact NFRC’s Communications and Marketing Manager, Tom Herron, at 301-589-1776.

Considering the high volume of calls NFRC has received regarding the tax credit for home improvement products, including windows, doors, and skylights, we have created a Web page that provides a wide variety of information on the subject. The page provides access to the entire text of the American Recovery and Reinvestment act of 2009 (The Stimulus Package), a link to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) information, and detailed information on using NFRC’s Certified Products Directory.

In addition, NFRC has replaced the logo on its landing page to keep pace with the times. The previous logo displayed a U-factor of 0.35 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.32. The new label, however, shows a U-factor and an SHGC of 0.30. NFRC believes the new numbers are a more accurate representation of the fenestration products on the market today. Our goal is ultimately to update the new label on all our fact sheets and other places where the old label still appears.
