NFRC Membership Elects New Members to Board of Directors; Votes to Maintain Two Seats
“We are very pleased with the member participation in our Board election this year,” said Jim Benney, NFRC's executive director. “Each year, our membership demonstrates their commitment to furthering the success of our organization and advancing NFRC’s mission.” There are three general categories that make up the Board of Directors:
The membership elected Jeffrey Harris of the Alliance to Save Energy and Kerry Haglund of the Center for Sustainable Building Research (CSBR) at the College of Design at the University of Minnesota. Both Harris and Haglund ran uncontested and are assuming seats in the general interest category for the first time. Harris joined the Alliance to Save Energy in September 2006 after serving as a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for more than 25 years. Among his current policy interests is understanding how individual and organizational behavior affects energy consumption and energy efficiency decisions. Haglund has been with the CSBR since 1998, where she is responsible for developing educational and research materials, and maintaining Web sites pertaining to the Center’s activities. Haglund will complete her Master’s of Architecture from the University of Minnesota next spring. Retaining their seats on the Board are Michael Thoman of Architectural Testing, Inc. (ATI), laboratory category; and Mike Manteghi of TRACO, fenestration industry commercial. Thoman, who just completed serving his first one-year term on NFRC’s Board, has been with ATI for more than six years. His fenestration experience spans all aspects of thermal testing and computer simulation, as he has been a certified NFRC simulator since 2000. Manteghi, who ran uncontested in this election, is currently the Director of Research and Development at TRACO in Cranberry Township, Pa., where he manages Research and Innovation and New Product Development. He has represented the commercial industry interest on the NFRC Board of Directors for the last three years, where he now serves as the active Chairman of the CMA Ratings and Technical Task Group and Subcommittee. Also elected to the Board in the fenestration category was Joe Hayden of Pella Corporation. Hayden is currently a Senior Project Engineer of Certification for Pella, and has been actively involved with NFRC since 1995. He is a former Chair of the NFRC Research Subcommittee, and has been the Chair of the Research & Technology Committee since its creation in 2004. Other changes to the Board took place at the Annual Meeting held last month in Laguna Beach, Calif. Elaine Hebert of the California Energy Commission (CEC) announced her resignation from the Board due to a change in her responsibilities at CEC. The Board appointed Tony Rygg, also of CEC, to fill her seat until the fall 2007 elections. The new and returning members join Marcia Falke, Chair; Alecia Ward, Vice-Chair; Gary Curtis, Secretary; Chuck Anderson; James Larsen; and Steve Selkowitz on the Board of Directors. The new members assumed their position this month, following the meeting in Laguna Beach. |
