DOE Creates Alternate Label for ENERGY STAR-Qualified Doors
Door & Window Manufacturer reported that the U.S. Department of Energy recently informed ENERGY STAR® stakeholders that doors that earn the ENERGY STAR label can use a "Qualifies in All 50 States" label starting on January 4, 2010. It should be placed within one inch of the NFRC temporary label. The original door label will still be available for use.

AAMA 507 Voted Down at ICC Code Hearings
During the recent International Code Council’s (ICC) Code Development Hearings in Baltimore, the AAMA 507 proposal to the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) failed at committee by a narrow margin of 6-5. AAMA 507 was proposed to serve as an alternative to the NFRC 100 site-built procedure, for the rating (but not certification) of commercial fenestration products.

The IECC continues to show support for an independent, third party system for determining and communicating fenestration product performance. NFRC’s CMA Program should help to unite the fenestration industry on one rating system for commercial fenestration systems.
