Spotlight: Product Line ID Task Group

History
The Product Line ID Task Group was formed at NFRC’s most recent Summer Membership Meeting in Chicago and reports to the Certification Subcommittee.

Leadership
John McFee of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association volunteered to chair this task group. Scott Hanlon and Sherri Wendt are the staff liaisons.  

Scope
Task group members are still refining the scope of work, but the mission is to put procedures and language in place to allow manufacturers to obtain their product line identification number within the Certified Products Directory environment prior to the issuance of a Certification Authorization Report.

Current Status
The task group, while in its infancy, is moving full speed ahead and will work with the PCP Review Task Group, chaired by Tina Jenkins of Simonton Windows, and the NFRC Database Committee, chaired by Jeff Baker of WESTLab, to develop program language and protocols to benefit manufacturers.

If the task group is successful, NFRC manufacturers will have vital information to assist them with their internal operating needs when setting up their labeling. The task group also hopes this will help the inspection agency and accredited laboratories with coordinating the validation testing process.

Next Steps
The task group will meet in Jacksonville and hopefully finalize their scope and discuss the plan of action already underway from two previous task group conference calls.
