SPOTLIGHT: Dynamic Attachment for Swinging Doors Task Group

History
The Dynamic Attachment for Swinging Doors Task Group (DASD) was established during the November 2007 membership meeting in Tempe, Ariz., after the Board approved the Product Operation Questionnaire (POQ). DASD was one of the first product types to submit a POQ for the Board to review.

Leadership
Dave De Block of ODL, Inc. serves as the task group chair and Scott Hanlon and Dennis Anderson are the NFRC staff liaisons. DASD reports to the Attachment Subcommittee.

Scope
The task group’s mission is to use NFRC published procedures to accurately define, simulate, test, and label the thermal performance characteristics of dynamic attachments for swinging doors.

Status
During NFRC’s Spring Membership Meeting, the task group successfully balloted the PCP and Glossary and Label Documents for Dynamic Attachments for Swinging Doors. These ballots were pending approval of the technical documents NFRC 100 and 200, which were completed at the Summer Meeting in Chicago.

Next Steps
The task group will work with an NFRC-certified Inspection Agency to be sure all the ratings are in order, and the group hopes to have everything completed this fall.
