CPD 2.0 to Launch Next Month

After months of testing and adjustments, NFRC’s Certified Products Directory, Version 2.0, will launch the first week of November. CPD currently contains energy performance information for more than 2.3 million fenestration products from 565 manufacturers spanning 5,855 product lines.

CPD 2.0 boasts many updates and increases simplicity to manufacturers, inspection agencies, laboratories, and consumers alike.

“We have taken the time and effort to make the CPD more efficient and effective for all users,” said NFRC Executive Director Jim Benney.

Phased Rollout
CPD 2.0 will be implemented in phases, with the first stage focusing on getting the test labs information uploaded into the system.

NFRC Laboratories and Inspection Agencies (IAs) will find version 2.0 to be more convenient and simplified. The data validation process will be completely online within the CPD environment.

In the previous version, the simulation labs uploaded data and the IAs manually inputted test data. Now the test labs will be able to upload a spreadsheet containing the test data. The IAs will now be able to synchronize and review both the simulation and test validation data through the CPD, rather than looking through reports submitted from labs and reviewing separate data in the CPD.  Additionally, automatic email notifications for labs and IAs have been built into the system.

Enhanced Search Options
The search capabilities built into version 2.0 are substantially more sophisticated. Users will be able to search multiple manufacturers at the same time (up to three) and there is a label search for code officials and manufacturers seeking to check their own labels.

There are a number of search advancements that will also benefit the public at-large. Consumers will be able to search by performance criteria, selecting from a range of NFRC rating values, and product criteria – from frame and sash type, glazing layers, low-e ranges, spacers, grids, gas fills and more. They will also be able to download these search results into an Excel spreadsheet.

Additionally, manufacturers will now be able to view their information on a newly formatted screen that presents all the information in a single place, allowing for easier access in updating plant and contact schedules. Manufacturers will also be able to export product line data directly to an Excel spreadsheet.

Moving forward, NFRC is assembling training for specific users, and manuals for each group are currently in development. Once CPD 2.0 goes live, NFRC welcomes further end-user feedback. Please contact Scott Hanlon, NFRC senior program manager, for any assistance.
