NFRC Member of the Year Award

The NFRC plans to honor the people that make things happen in our industry: you,
the members.

Once each year, beginning with this year’s Fall Membership Meeting, NFRC will present to one individual its newly created “Member of the Year” award. This prestigious distinction (and generous prize) will go to the person that has exhibited exemplary dedication to the organization, made some extraordinary contribution, or accomplished an exceptional goal.

We realize our members are doing these kinds of thing all the time, but our goal is to publicly recognize and celebrate one each year that clearly stands out among the rest.

We Want Your Input!
Because we have so many fine companies filled with employees who are promoting the mission of the NFRC, deciding who receives the Member of the Year award may prove unusually challenging. That means we’re going to need a definitive set of criteria to guide us.

In order to develop that criteria and ultimately make the best choice, we’re going to need to know what you think. Here’s what we have so far, and we would invite our members to add to it.

Selection Criteria:

  1. The foundation of the award: the recipient of the NFRC “Member of the Year” award will be someone who exhibits genuine commitment and dedication to NFRC’s Mission Statement, which is as follows:

“NFRC develops and administers comparative energy and related rating programs that serve the public and satisfy the needs of its private sector partners by providing fair, accurate and credible, user-friendly information on fenestration product performance.”

In particular, the recipient should exhibit genuine support for NFRC’s status as a 501(c) (3) public service corporation, putting the best interests of the general public ahead of those of his/her member company.

  2. The recipient should also be a positive advocate for NFRC when addressing code officials, governmental agencies, utility companies, architects, specifiers, the media, and the general public.

  3. The recipient should regularly attend NFRC membership meetings and actively engage in critical discussions and decisions while displaying a noteworthy level of preparedness, positive demeanor, and constructive attitude.

  4. The recipient must exhibit respect for all members, genuinely embracing the philosophy of a consensus process. The recipient should also regularly demonstrate full consideration of all expressed viewpoints when determining his/her position on any issue.

Questions For You

  • Have we missed anything?
  • Are there any other criteria you feel the Member of the Year should meet?
  • What qualities should this person possess?
  • What level of contribution should this person provide?

Please let us know. We welcome your opinion and urge you to think of this as an opportunity to personally contribute to the overall good of the NFRC. And who knows…it could be you!

NFRC plans to distribute nomination forms at the upcoming meeting in Chicago. Please let us know what qualities you envision making up the “NFRC Member of the Year.”
