Four Candidates Running for Seats
On NFRC Board

The NFRC Board of Directors election is underway, with four candidates running for open seats. NFRC voting members are encouraged to cast their ballot. All votes, even those to abstain, are important to us.

Please log onto NFRC's voting site – https://vod.votenet.com/nfrcboard – and exercise your membership privilege to vote. The voting deadline has been extended to end of business Friday, November 6, 2009. After being independently certified, the election results will be announced during the Fall Membership Meeting in San Antonio.

It is important to participate in Board of Directors elections. The role of the NFRC Board of Directors is to make sure that the ratings prescribed and published by the organization support our stakeholders in selecting, specifying, or evaluating fenestration systems in terms of energy efficiency.

The Board comprises three main categories: General Interest, Fenestration Industry, and Laboratory. In total:

  •  The Fenestration Industry category has five seats.
  •  The Laboratory category has one seat.
  •  The General Interest category has six seats.

  • The Board is weighted towards the General Interest category because of NFRC’s 501(c)(3) status. The six seats in the category ensure that NFRC continues to work towards the public interest.

This year, voters will elect Board members in all three categories. The following seats are open for the 2010 Board of Directors:

  •  One in the Fenestration Industry category
  •  One in the Laboratory category
  •  Two in the General Interest category

  • Each candidate in this year’s election is running uncontested. (See "Nomination Process" below for more information). Visit the “Meet the Candidates…” feature in this special issue of NFRC Insider to learn more about the nominees.

    Nomination Process

In August, NFRC distributed a letter to the membership requesting suggestions for nominees to the Board of Directors. NFRC staff contacted all designees and requested that they complete a questionnaire and return a biography (with assurance that they accept the designation for nomination).

The NFRC Governance Committee then reviewed the designees’ information and prepared a slate of nominees in the applicable Board categories for consideration by the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors selected the nominees and confirmed that they are in the appropriate categories for election.

All approved nominees were notified of their status and a final slate was developed for the election (providing a final opportunity for a nominee to withdraw).
