Energy Codes and Standards Explained

If you are building a new home or making a major rennovation (requiring a building permit), strict code compliance is usually observed.  Use the Where is NFRC required? link to determine what code is required.  If it is one of the nationally referenced codes, then click on the National codes link to learn more.  If you are making a minor rennovation to your home (no permit required), consider the recommendation of voluntary energy programs.  Click on the Voluntary link to learn about such programs as ENERGY STAR and the Efficient Windows Collaborative.  These programs are developed with the homeowner in mind and are easy to use.
