Fenestration Software Update Posted: 17 May 2009 01:32 AM |
| I need to develop a software model to evaluate the application of a solar film to the window and the associated savings. Before I started to develop a program, I reseached current programs. I found the NFRC data on software was last updated in 2006. Is that correct? Which software packages are most current and are they in the public domain? |

The NFRC uses 3 software programs to calculate the energy ratings for fenestration products. Window 5.2, Therm 5.2, and Optics 5.1. These programs are available free via the following link:
http://www.nfrc.org/software.aspx
When you select a link to the software programs, you are redirected to Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's website to download the programs.
In regards to the latest film data available for use, please select the spectral data link on the NFRC Software web page to download version 17.0 of the glazing database. This database file works in conjunction with the Window and Optics programs.
When you download software from LBNL's website, you will be registered to recieve email notices regarding any updates. |
