Building Envelope Supplier Summit - Fall 2010

NFRC is working as the Building Envelope Supplier Summit Registration Partner

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Commercial Building Energy Alliances   (CBEAs) are hosting the inaugural day-long Building Envelope Supplier Summit in Chicago on Tuesday, November 16, the day before the USGBC’s Greenbuild 2010 opens. The conference will be held at the Westin Michigan Ave.

New and emerging practices and technologies can be used to make existing commercial buildings 10 to 20 percent more energy efficient. Moreover, these same technologies can be used in constructing new commercial buildings that use 25 to 50 percent less energy than their traditional counterparts. These super-efficient buildings can have a dramatic impact on the United States’ energy use and carbon emissions.

As NFRC members and others in the industry recognize, the building envelope—windows, roofs, insulation, foundations, and other components—and the suppliers of these products are the most crucial elements of these equations.

Why Suppliers Should Attend

The Building Envelope Supplier Summit unites building owners and operators with suppliers of windows, doors, insulation, and other building envelope components to address energy efficiency. Specifically, participants will:

  • Meet one-on-one with some of the more than 150 CBEA members, who are influential players in the commercial real estate, hospital, and retail industry sectors.
  • Learn about the challenges, demands, and performance requirements of major buyers.
  • Gain insights needed for market leadership in energy-efficient, sustainable, and cost-competitive building envelope components and products.
  • Highlight emerging products and technologies.

In October, registrants will receive additional materials including the agenda and, for suppliers, the names of alliance member companies and institutions interested in signing up for individual conversations with suppliers (“speed-dating”).

DOE Commercial Building Energy Alliances
The three Commercial Building Energy Alliances—the Retailer Energy Alliance, the Commercial Real Estate Energy Alliance, and the Hospital Energy Alliance—are industry-led national forums where sector leaders are actively shaping a more energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable future for the United States. DOE provides alliance members access to advanced technologies and analytical tools emerging from DOE and the national laboratories. In each alliance, peers share vital experiences and insights, document and disseminate best practices in efficiency, and define and address the challenges that must be overcome to accelerate progress.
